Hello world!

Thanks Fin24 and Hallo World direct from me, Ike.  I shall tell you more about me as time goes by but today is a good time to tell you that I was born on this day of 3rd August [except that it was a Saturday ] in the good year of 1940.

It was long before Apartheid but less than a year after the start of the War.

We grew up without telephones; very few people had motorcars [we never had] but we had one old bicycle between Dad and three sons; there was elder brother [called Ouboet in later years] and younger brother who became Boetie as we grew older.  The lavvy was outside and our water came from a well.

We had very little but it was a good life in a good world.  I sometimes miss it and I don’t think that the Internet has anything that can remotely compensate for the simplicity and fullness of life then.

I am going to change the name of my Site in due course; how it got to be named the way it shows I don’t know but I will fix it somehow.

Until later.
